Refining the Silhouette
Breast Surgery
Breast surgery is performed for a variety of reasons. Breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. Some women feel that their breasts have lost volume and firmness with age, and others find that their breasts are affected by pregnancy weight changes. Breast augmentation helps restore volume and can also enable the correction of congenital differences in breast size. A breast reduction can assist when the breast is considered to be too large and causes discomfort.
At Wood MediSpa, we have selected a range of trusted suppliers to provide high quality implants. Implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes and can be inserted either above or below the muscle. Your surgeon is best placed to advise you of what procedure and implant would suit your anatomy to achieve your desired outcome.
Breast Mastopexy
Breast mastopexy is the lifting of the breast. A breast lift can be combined with the insertion of an implant, a breast reduction or as a stand alone procedure to lift the breast and reduce the appearance of sagging of the breast tissue. During pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding, the breasts distend with milk causing the fibrous bands which support the breast to break down. This also results in the stretching of the skin. When the breasts subsequently shrink, the breasts are unsupported and droop. Cycles of weight gain and weight loss and the ageing process can also have the same effect.
The Mummy Makeover Package
The 'Mummy Makeover' is one of our most popular procedures at Wood and involves combing a series of surgical procedures together to create a full body makeover combing an abdominoplasty with breast surgery.
An abdominoplasty can drastically improve the aesthetic appearance of the shape and contours of the abdomen by removing excess skin and we can also tighten and repair the abdominal muscles while performing the surgery.
We tailor the procedures to the patient's requirements and offer a combination of surgeries including a standard abdominoplasty, a FDL or an extended Liposuction may be added to various areas including the flanks and back.
Breast surgery could be an augmentation via implants of fat transfer or mastopexy or a breast reduction this would be discussed at consultation with your Surgeon.
Capsulectomy
During a capsulectomy procedure, the surgeon carefully removes the thickened capsule tissue that has formed around a breast implant. This capsule is a natural response of the body to the presence of a foreign object, such as an implant, and can sometimes become problematic. The formation of this scar tissue can cause the breast to feel firm, lead to discomfort or pain, and even result in visible distortion of the breast shape.
By performing a capsulectomy, the surgeon aims to address these issues and improve the overall appearance and feel of the breast. The procedure involves making an incision, accessing the capsule, and meticulously excising it from the surrounding tissue. This meticulous approach is crucial to ensure the complete removal of the capsule while minimizing the risk of complications.
